This, my dear, was so completely dead on and such a joy to read. And you brought me back to my branding days with that sprinkle of jargon! I’m terrified to AI myself and now even more so. Do I have to? Ours is the only generation with a foot planted in both worlds. It feels like doing a split right about now, doesn’t it?
You gotta try it. Viv, it was so f’n weird. I didn’t even mean for it to happen, haha! We do have a foot in both worlds, don’t we? It’s interesting and a gazillion kinds of weird. AI yourself and tell me what you think. xo
I feel all of what you beautifully wrote so much—the cognitive dissonance between our weird AI-infested reality and a deep longing for the simplicity of the past (at least as it relates to music, flirting/ dating, actually being with people and not distracted by screens, etc). Thank you for putting this all into words! chill vibes only, my friend 💗
As someone who writes about this stuff (thanks for the generous promo!) I’ve never heard “AI yourself” as a verb. Brilliant! You nailed the experience of being “seen” by a non-sentient being, with all its truths and strange falsehoods. And the branding… how is it that we have all become so commodified? So glad we met over the socials. ♥️
Your words resonated with me. Now, I have not AI'd myself. Not sure if I will. I feel like I'm constantly trying to find balance between the ease of accessing everything and anything via tech and being present to experience what is real and tangible.
The last year or so I have removed social media apps and my work email from my cell phone. Which has helped me to be more present with family and friends. Nolan and I have been building our vinyl collection and finding time to listen, really listen, to the music we love. It is a very different experience than playing CDs or streaming. On vinyl the musicians sound like they are in our livingroom and we are actively soaking it all in, whereas the other can easily become a background track.
I love your brand of "Chill Vibes" and "Vanilla Summer." Those are some good life goals.
100 percent, Coop!! Chilling with the people you love while some vinyl spins is truly meaningful. We definitely need more chill vibes and vanilla summer; 2025 has been depressing and exhausting. Vanilla chill for one and all.
