"What do you do?" was always, always the first question during happy hours when I worked in corporate. I never really thought about it until much later post-corporate and that's when I realized folks really do treat you differently depending on your response. Am I now less important or less interesting or less smart or less than period because I went from revenue manager to writer? I'm still the same person! (Love your newsletter, BTW! I just turned 50 last month so I was ecstatic when your newsletter launched.)
What an excellent post. I hope it sparks a conversation or two here, or offline. I've been a freelance editor (it pays the bills) and writer for long enough to know all the looks. I know that getting published helped my self esteem, so congrats. I appreciate the difficult journey you're on, and applaud your determination and enthusiasm. Onward!
Slow, sweet, and mind-provoking - loved this and thanks for the Silver Tongue - such a delicious song.
Thanks for reading!

I worked corporate, too, and you really nailed it, Teronda! Thank you so much for reading and weighing in. 🙏
Lovely post, darling. Hear, hear to the "what do you think" question!
Thank you honey! ♥️
